Dear Wylie,
I just wanted to thank you, Ray, and Scot for an wonderful time in
Vegas. You guys made a great time at the NFR even more memorable.
We go to the NFR every year, but this year you and your band made it
extra special. You guys put on such a great show that we had to
attend every set for the 4 days we were there. Everyone was so
friendly and very gracious with their time and made us feel almost
like family. Scot came over and introduced himself and talked with
us for a while and so did Ray. They were both so nice, we really
appreciated their kindness.
I also wanted to thank you for taking the time to sign my CDs and
allowing us to take pictures. My fiancée and I just wanted you to
know that we all love your music and are so grateful what you do. I
hope we can get you out to California sometime soon, we would love
to hear you guys play again. Maybe we could get you guys down to
play at the wedding next year, that would be unbelievable! Have a
safe trip back home, thanks again for a truly memorable time.

| ~ ~ ~ I'm a volunteer with
the Richmond Folk Festival. Have been listening to Country since it
was called Country & Western, which as you know was a donkey's
years ago! Grew up listening to RCA 45s of The Tennessee Plowboy
and His Guitar, a.k.a. Eddy Arnold. Over the years, have heard
everybody and anybody who yodels doing
"The Cattle Call," but
never heard anyone who came close to Eddy until last night!
Listening, I actually had goosebumps on my arms! Thank you for
keeping the art form alive and thank you and the band for a
wonderful evening!

What a great day Hooper was! It was our 35th anniversary. We were
married in Palouse, and we spent the day with some folks who came to
our wedding those years ago. It was the best anniversary day anyone
could ask for! You and your team were a great part of it Wylie.
Thanks so much, and keep up the good work,

| ~ ~ ~ Hi Wylie,
I am a wannabe buckaroo from Athens, Georgia, of all places. I can’t
tell you how much I enjoy your music. I only recently heard your
music when I bought the Houlihan DVD (J&S Productions) and
heard several of your songs on it. The rest is history as they say.
When I like something I go at it at a full gallop, so I have
recently bought 5 CDs and the DVD. The DVD is outstanding as are the
CDs. I bought the DVD because being from Georgia, I figured I would
never get a chance to see you in person. But wouldn’t you know when
I recently visited your web site I saw where you will be in Las
Vegas during the NFR. Since I go to the NFR a few nights every year,
I plan on catching your show(s).
Back to the DVD, I greatly appreciated all the extra material on
it – the music videos ("Cattle Call" is fantastic), the close up of
the band members, and the cutting with Whiskey. Although I have
never been on a cutting horse, I frequently go to the August
Futurity, and have seen some great ones. I love the West, spend time
every year at a working ranch in Idaho, and love cowboy horses and
am training a good one now.
On your web site you say you never had a hit (except "YAHOO!"),
but trust me, every CD of yours is a HIT! I have been listing to Ian
Tyson and Don Edwards and have all of their CDs, and you are now
placed right there with them in my cowboy music world.
Keep turning out those great songs! See you in Las Vegas in
December!
Cheers,
Dick Hussey |
~ ~ ~ Wylie, I want to thank you for an awesome show. I was one of the cowboys in the front row this spring at the theater in Red Wing, Minn. It couldn't have been any more awesome. You have a very well put together group of musicians. The guitar I'd seen in pictures, the buckle won only by a horseman, the style the West. Everything that evening was pretty awesome. I was dumbfounded when you came over to talk to us after the concert. I was just so flustered by the whole concert I couldn't hardly spit a word out. I see you have a show in Billings coming up. I'd so love to make it out there for that. But maybe if I get headed out that way, closer to Washington, I'll travel a few extra miles to see you fellers again. It would be worth it. Good luck and God Bless!
Thank you, Donald Hamblin, Hayward, Wis. |

~ ~ ~ Dear Mr. Gustafson, I recently had the opportunity to attend your show in Yakima, Wash. My wife and I were guests of my parents who are fans of yours. I was not sure what to expect, because really I have had little exposure to your style of music, except for a few songs I have heard while ridding around with my dad.
I have to tell you I had the time of my life. I have been to the Gorge and seen the likes of Tim McGraw and the Dixie Chicks. Let me tell you they have nothing over on you. I had so much fun. You put on an exceptional show and I have never had so much fun at a concert or been to a better one in my short life. You said something at the concert that struck a cord with me you said, I listen to country music stations sometimes and I just can't relate to the music. As I heard the first song you sang I almost had to fight back tears. You see I grew up on a farm in central Washington and love the lifestyle that farm life offers. I miss every minute I am not on the farm with the horses. Those songs you sang hit me like no other songs I have heard. Those words mean something to me and are so relevant in my life. I am a junior at Central Washington University majoring in business. I often find myself buried in homework and stuck indoors. When I need a release I pop in the "Paradise" CD and it takes me to places I am not, but wish to be. Let's just say it helps me cope with reality or the lights of the city. Your music is truly something special to me and I think I am currently performing stress tests on the CDs I bought. I know that you probably get lots of positive feedback from people you meet. I just wanted to let you know that this 22 year old fully relates to your music and it is something special. I might also add that the "Glory Trail" CD is a great CD. God Bless!
Sincerely,

Dear Wylie and the Band, You've outdone yourself on the new CD. I'm really enjoying it (and I've got Elton Britt and Rex Allen and Marty Robbins to compare you all to). Wylie the singing is top notch, as always, but the arrangements are just knock outs.
Thanks for the happy hours listening to your fun, upbeat stuff. I find hearing at least one yodel a day makes me in a better mood.
Also, it was a real treat to see your dad's picture, Wylie. You've been blessed not only by having Kimberley, but also by having your dad live a wonderful, long life. He sure looks like a fun guy!
Warm regards,

Wylie, I just wanted to tell you that I first experienced your unique and fun music at a west festival in California in 1998 and ever since you have given many hours of great sing along songs that I have mastered and I think I'm quite the yodeler. I am glad to see that you are still putting out the CDs and doing well with your music. I have since moved to Colorado and if you would ever consider coming out here for us folks who would really love to come see you play because I must say I look pretty silly yodeling to myself going down the road. I really need to be able to look over at the cowboy passing me in his old pickup and see him singing the same song, you know what I mean?
Well, keep on singing Wylie as you are truly blessed with a great gift, and I thank you for sharing it to the world.
Sincerely,
Deborah Carbaugh |

Dear Wylie, Connie and I would like to thank you again for a wonderful weekend at the Saddle Up Celebration. Your music is wonderful, your showmanship delightful, and your off-stage warmth and genuine friendliness made us glad for the opportunity to see you in person. Your simple, thanks for stopping to say good-night at the end of the dance says a lot about a down-to-earth sincerity that doesn't try to get better than their raisin'. It's refreshing and made us happy that we drove the 800 miles from northern Michigan to spend some time with you.
As we traveled home on Sunday morning, the "Glory Trail" was our companion, and the girl back-up singer on the passenger seat beside me only added to the enjoyment of the ride. We hope to duplicate that enjoyment while ridin' the high line on a very docile horse someday soon. Dave & Connie Ogg |

Wylie, I have seen videos on CMT several years ago, and enjoyed them. However, my husband and I came to your Saturday night performance at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko. (Just a few days ago). And what a thoroughly fantastic experience! I grew up with parents who were in their late 30s when I was adopted. So, I grew up listening to Marty Robbins, and all of my mom's favorites. And your show reminded me of those days as well as reminding me to appreciate what I have here in Idaho on our Appaloosa ranch. While there, I purchased the "Hooves of the Horses" CD, and I can tell you with all honestly that it will be one that others will be sick of soon because that is all I will listen to.
We toyed last Saturday between going to Michael Martin Murphey or going to your show. I love Michael, he is one of my all time favorites. And yet, since he plays here in Idaho Falls at our Colonial Arts Theater on occasion, I made the ultimate decision to come to your show instead. And I am not one bit sorry that I made that choice. I enjoyed every second, and was saddened only to see it come to an end.
Until that point in time, I knew of you and your music, but not well enough to consider myself a fan. I know now, that it will be my goal to purchase a copy of everything that you have done. My husband is a horse trainer and cowboy poet here in Idaho. He loved your song "When I'm Ridin', I'm Right." That sums up his life pretty well. He has grown up on a horse, and spent 16 years being a deputy sheriff for Bonneville County, and shortly after we got married two and a half years ago, he quit to train and shoe horses full-time. And while there have been a few slim months, neither one of us regret this decision. Now, the training and shoeing is good and people are asking him to do his cowboy poetry for their parties. He writes all of his own poetry and is having the time of his life telling them to people.
But the whole point of this email was to thank you for putting on such a fantastic show. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a ticket in the future.
And your band doesn't go with out recognition either. Ray and Scot are both nothing less than impressive with their musical ability. They compliment your show very well.
Should you ever find yourself in Idaho Falls, I'd like to extend an invitation for you to visit our place. It's not large, but you can ride across the road, and ride all the way to Wyoming without having to cross very many roads. And we have about 20 retired horses and some miniature horses that my mother-in-law uses to give "special needs" individuals a horse experience weather it is riding or driving the miniatures and carts. She has a class size in the summer of about 100 special individuals. Mostly provided free of charge with whatever help she can wrangle into helping in trade for riding lessons or borrowing horses. She is truly a blessing in disguise to many.
May God Bless you all very well. And I hope to hear more of you in the future.
Thanks again,
Michelle DeShon

Wylie, I was driving home tonight from college feeling a bit down, the sure-fire cure is to pop in one of your CDs. Your voice is so pure and your songs take me "home" in my heart every time. I love your music.
It's your music we sing around the campfire,
It's your music that cheers me up,
It's your music that starts my trail rides,
It's your music when I'm just kick'en back,
It's your music I play when go'in out and havin fun!
It's your music.....that takes me home.
I fell in love with your poem "On A Good One" when it came through on your newsletter. I dolled it up on my computer, printed it out and framed it. I was so excited to see it on your new album! I'm a single mother, with three wonderful children, going back to college. I don't have the money right now to purchase your new CD, but the first chance I get I will! Can't wait! Thanks so much for being a part of my life. You have touched my heart with your music.

Dear Wylie: I was certainly dumbfounded this morning when I received your telephone call wishing me happy birthday. I knew my friend Pauline was up to something, but I never dreamed it would be something like that. You will have to excuse her, she gets a little exuberant at times. I was thinking "wow, what entertainers must have to do to keep their fans happy"." Although I pride myself that I am not easily surprised, I surely was. Being a long-time Sons of the Pioneers fan, I have gotten great enjoyment from your music and especially your compositions.I have told several friends and relatives about your music and have purchased CDs as gifts for them. I am looking forward to your new, and soon to be released, CD.
Thanks again,

Howdy Wylie, Wow! What a great surprise to have you show up at my b-day party. I'm still overwhelmed by the whole thing. The party was a surprise as it was. Our family got together last nite and viewed the video that my daughter Mischelle and son-in-law Ponch recorded. It came out fabulous. Everyone says that I should tell you the story of how your music changed my life. So here goes... about 4 years ago, I went thru a divorce. It was very sad for me and my family to see me so sad and hurt. You know how music takes you right back to where you were at the time? (Great for the memories) Well I couldn't listen to music it would make me cry. Then one day almost 2 years ago (right before your concert in Kirkland at tje performing arts center). I walked into Way Out West in Snohomish Washington, and there you were yodeling away. I asked Robin who that was and she told me all about you. I bought the CD "Total Yodel." My dad yodeled. Not quite as good as you but, I loved him to yodel. I came home that day went to your web site found that you were going to be at the Kirkland P.A. Center. I bought 5 tickets 1 for my sister, my brother, sis-in-law, and best friend and of course me. I gave them and a CD of yours each for Christmas. We went to your concert and the rest is history. You sing happy, happy music that changed my life from sad to happy. And Wylie, is my daughter the greatest! I thank God everyday for my 3 kids and my life.
Thank you for coming to my b-day party. We all hope to see you at the Tractor.
I need to order CDs for my brother and sister, as they had you autograph theirs for me.I wanted you to personally autograph them so could you let me know how to go about that.
Again thanks,
Lizz |

Hi again Wylie, Your show at Snoqualmie was super. Both my wife and I love your music and it seems we can't get enough of it. I have all eight of you CDs, and they are the only ones we have in our changer in the car. We listen to you all the time. You may remember me, I'm the one with the black cowboy hat sitting in the front row with my wife. I first met you at your show in Edmonds a couple of months ago, and again last Sunday in Snoqualmie at Mount Si High School. We are looking forward to seeing you again in July at the Ballard Seafood Festival. I just wanted to let you know you and your music are loved in our house hold. Hope to see you in Dusty sometime this summer.

Hello Wylie and Family, We heard a radio special about you and your music on St. Joseph, Missouri radio station KFEQ (680 AM) a while back and have been enjoying the sound clips portion of your web site since then. We had a difficult time deciding which CD to order since it all hits the spot. So, we saved up for a while and decided to order all of your available recordings, especially since there is nothing like it anywhere else around here. I am thankful every time I hear my 5 year-old singing your lyrics (my 18 and 13 year olds like your music too). I want to personally thank you for your efforts. They are wholesome and meaningful and are lifeblood to our ever-shrinking culture. God Bless, Sid Matthews & family in Kansas
P.S We hope to make it out west and to see one of your performances this year. |

It Reckoned Wylie: I am Hernán Marcellino, of the city of Totoras, Province of Holy Faith, of Argentina. It is for my a pleasure to have the possibility to contact me with you, since you are for my and my friends one of ours larger idols, its music has arrived at our hearts and there remained. It story that here in Argentina I form part of a band of Music Country Traditional called "THE METROPOLIS Country Music" and we compose our own songs in Spaniard, besides we interpret some covers among the ones that is found "Yodelin' Fool". It would be for us a true dream to receive an answer of Wylie to this mail. I expect that understand that ours English it does not be very sure that is why it myself in Spaniard. Wylie, Thanks for the best show in the West, and probably the country. We have been to several of the "famous singers". I will not go again. All they seem to offer is noise, with volume so high all you can hear is an unitelible racket. You will probably never know how much the people enjoy your shows and appreciate you spending-time-with some of us old folks. Earl Noble |

Hello Wylie! Again, I want to thank you and the Wild West for the awesome concerts at the Sheldon. Connie and I had such a great time! We are so thankful we bought tickets for the 3 o'clock show - you guys were so great, we had to come back for more. We bought our tickets to the 8 o'clock show at the intermission for the 3 o'clock show. Saturday was my first time seeing you guys. I've been listening to Connie's CDs for a while now. You have such a wonderful voice. And your songs truly do "paint a picture" I can't say enough good things about the concert. It was quite an honor to meet you and the other guys and have your autographs on our CDs and programs.
My only complaint was that the evening had to come to an end!I could've sat and listened to you guys all night long! Your 3 o'clock show was Connie's birthday present to me. The 8 o'clock show was my present to myself. Thank you for a very memorable birthday. It's one I'll never forget. We'll be checking your web site to see you again when you come back around.
Take care and God bless! Your music and voice is a wonderful gift. Thank you so much for sharing it with us all.
Kind Regards & Happy Trails!

~ ~ ~ Wylie, My wife and I really enjoy your latest CD, "Paradise". It gets a lot of play time at our house; great songs! My favorite is "Whoop-up Trail", and the others make a great mix. We appreciate your music; it is what got us back to country music after 20 years of thinking that the country flavor was gone from the music industry.
Keep up the great song writing!

~ ~ ~ Dear Wylie, I just wanted to say thank you for your gift of music to me and family. I am the proud Papa of two boys, Jonathan (5) and Brendan (20mo.) and husband to Karen Tanzy. We discovered your music through our friend Victoria Watt Warshaw. You were kind enough to sign your first album "Riden the High Line" to my boys, and we have not stopped dancing since we first played it. Most weekend mornings you will find us dancing around the house to all kinds of music, but since you have come into our lives, it's all about WYLIE. Much to our delight, Victoria gave us a copy of your latest album "Paradise" autographed by you to Jonathan and Brendan. As much as we love "Riden the High Line", this one was really something amazing. Jonathan's and my favorite song is "Swinging on a Star", no wait, it's "Saddle Bum" or maybe "Girl from North County" or maybe... You get the picture.
Anyway it's hard to put into words we just want to say thank you a WHOLE BUNCH!

Greetings Wylie! America's Drawing Cowboy here, Darryl Willison. You are amazing. I am proud of the great things before you, and am honored that you and I have shared words. As a fellow artist, I am aware of how much work it takes to be seen and even better-remembered! Not to mention make a few bucks while you are at it. I am curious as to your age. I ask because I feel as an artist with some thing uniquly different to share with the world, at what point in your life does it all become "a success?" Do people accept you better if you have crows feet and a full head of silver? (I don't think you are that old!) Or, is it great marketing?
I will be 38 this Saturday, I have two beautiful little girls, a wonderful wife, and a dog and cat. I am very thankful for it all, and already feel "rich", but I continue to work my rear off to get the exposure and, well, the rest of the stuff this world seems to think (as well as myself as a result) that you need to be successful. I believe in what you sing about because it is what I draw, and I want the old West to be a part of people's lives, and humor and color help the effort. You do not owe me any explanation, but I ask for some of your wisdom if you do not mind. Keep up the great work, and it is a pleasure to hear you on the radio finally! Always your pal,
Darryl |

Hey Wylie and Group, Congrats on the FULL schedule. Sounds like your life must be "Paradise." Good luck on your ropin' and cuttin'. When you're "ridin' yer right!" I've given several copies of your last CD to friends for gifts. All of them (bar none) have enjoyed your music! Keep on, keepin' on. You're the best there is....there is no HO-HUM about you guys AT ALL! J. Larson Cle Elum |

Hi Guys, I attended the show in Kirkland and just wanted to say thanks. I am a fan since about '98 but this was the first chance to see a live show. I live downtown Kirkland so it was very handy. I have seen alot of rock and roll shows but I have to say that last night was one of the most sincere I have ever experienced, it was very obvious you guys love to do this... right up there with Lyle Lovett in Seattle last year. I sure hope you play Kirkland again. I will lobby as much as possible. Can't wait to hear my favorite "Dogone Cowboy"live.
You guys rock! Good luck and thanks.
Sincerely,
Mike Johnson |
~ ~ ~ Dear Mr. Wylie, Please keep making your yodel albums, they are just wonderful. I love yodel music and as far as yours, it is the best. When you hold a note long, to much.
I don't usualy write people but had to make a comment.
Thank you.

Good morning, Just a short note to say thank you for a great time here in Sheridan my wife and I so enjoyed. Knew we would, have all your CDs, the last two I like the best so pure and from the heart. I have listened to Western and country music all my life very little else, What I always liked was each one of the great ones and a distinct voice and sang with so little effort watching you Saturday night it was the same. I do not know but I think it has to be in the soul, not just for money. The song you sing of your own come from life, real life not like the junk you hear on the radio today.
Well I best get to something done, just wanted to say thank you and plan on seeing you in May, Mike |

Howdy, Since there is actually a live person at the other end of the email, I will pass along a little info as to why Wylie is exactly the right person to be a part of your organization and why he is one of the most popular acts on the road today.
I just got back from Elko and the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. Wylie played a couple of concerts there as well as a couple of the free show spots. The band that was hired to play for the dances on Friday and Saturday nights was so bad and so unprofessional at the Friday night dance that many people left early and unhappy. Saturday morning some 30 or 40 people were demanding their money back as the tickets were $21 each and the band only played for about 30 minutes before taking a 30 minute break, going to the bar and drinking, dancing, etc.
Charlie Seeman, director of the gathering, fired the band on Saturday morning and asked Wylie and the Wild West to step in, which they did. As I did not have a ticket for the Saturday night dance, I was not able to go and didn't want to be a jerk by demanding to get in on my wasted Friday night ticket, but the word was that Wylie brought down the house. The dance floor was packed for every song and they played quite a bit longer than they had originally been booked to play. As always, they were cold sober, professional to the max and dressed in a manner befitting the best western band on the road today. And this, my friend, is a tough audience. This is the best of the Western musicians and real cowboys and ranchers from all over the world. If you aren't good, you get sorted at the door. Wylie, as always, passed the sort with flying colors and rode into history as the band that saved the dances at Elko.
I was proud to be his friend and you should be proud to have them on your artist roster. They showed the amatuers how it should be done. I still wish I could have been there for the dance. There was so much demand to get in that they couldn't let anybody more in. Also, I will probably see Wylie in Missoula and again in Cody this spring so thought I would let somebody go to the dance that doesn't get to see them as often as I do.
Incidentally, the band that was supposed to play was called Syd Masters & the ??? I will never play a song of theirs nor will they ever book a venue in Montana if I have anything to say about it, which I probably do, considering that I have the only radio show in Montana dedicated to this type of music and have a lot of friends in the music business. I hope they aren't one of your artists. I don't think so as I had never heard of them before.

~ ~ ~ While at the Central Washington State Fair in Yakima, my wife and I sat down to listen to your show. After about 15 minutes, I turned to my wife and said, "I like this." "You do?" she asked, not with disdain, but more like she had just discovered something about me that she didn't know before. I had listened to country music while living in Texas many years ago and listening to your show made me search out a local country station later in the week. It wasn't the same. You're country, but not country. I mean, you're sort of country, but country in a new-old way. A week later I went to a local music store and purchased "Paradise". Love it. However, I don't allow myself to listen to it whenever I want. That way it stays fresh, as if I'm listening to it for the first time. When my wife asked what I wanted for Christmas, I didn't hesitate. "Any CD by Wylie and the Wild West." "You already have one," she says. "Ok," I said, "any CD by Wylie and the Wild West except Paradise". I'm looking forward to Christmas.

Your concert Friday night at the Met was the best yet! My aunt was in agreement. The addition of the fiddle with Scot's talent is a great asset. I thoroughly enjoyed every note. It amazes me how you write such wonder music. I am especially fond of the song written honoring your parents and their golden years together. They are very proud of you! Duane looks like he is recovering from some serious illness. I hope that he is on the road to recovery.
It's always my pleasure to see you any time I can on the stage and I always say "Howdy" when I drive by your place on my way to Waitsburg.
Take care and THANKS! Jan Eastman |

Wylie & Kimberley, Here's the Catch-22 for us music lovers regarding your being ignored by the music industry (and this certainly applies to Christy McWilson &the late Picketts, or Connie Dover, as well): Something's gained, yet something's lost, when artists such as yourselves get the recognition you truly deserve. Friendly, personal chats with musicians who know their "fans" (I hate that word, but can't think of a better one offhand) as individuals get replaced by lines of autograph hounds. People who truly enjoy your music get shoved aside by people who just want to bask in the reflected glory of fame.
And all of a sudden, you need to learn words like "security" & "stalker" and everybody and his brother wants a bigger chunk of your time, so people can't get to know you and Ray/Christy/Blackie/Connie) and your band(s) for the truly nice--not just talented--folks you are.
That said, I'd still be tickled pink to see you (or Christy, or Connie)have that million-seller, because all the more people would get to enjoy your music, which is simply top-drawer. Then maybe we'd talk again once the fame had ebbed a bit, and you could share humorous & fascinating stories about 'the ride'- and I suspect you'd still be just as nice as ever. (A great example of that is the legendary Don McLean, who proved as nice to meet & talk with as he was surprised- but pleasantly, I think- that I couldn't care less about getting his autograph) And hopefully we'd have a laugh over how long it took for you to get "Marie" recorded, but, doggone it, you finally did!
In the meantime, I hope it helps to know that "Hey Maria" will still be played when we need to hear a really great song, just as Connie's rendition of "Rosemary's Sister" or Christy's "Ship Song" or Ray's "Half-Hearted Love" or Blackie's "Don't You Ever", or... any number of other really fine tunes you've produced (& have yet to produce) will. The pleasure your music gives people reflects a gift you have, and one which shouldn't be taken for granted... despite the music industry's short-sightedness. With that, I'll jump off the soap box. Besides, I'm sure you knew all that anyway, & we certainly don't want to get maudlin here... yet perhaps it still needed to be said. And, hopefully, you feel just a little better for having read it.
Have a great holiday season, and all the best in the coming year, Dave

Hey Wylie and ALL! Just purchased your new CD "Paradise". NICE JOB EVERYONE! Since there are NO places to get CDs in Cle Elum, a friend and I went to the West side (Bellevue-ugh!) and found it at the Silver Platters store in CrossRoads. I asked them to demo it for me while I looked around. So after Placido Domingo and "100 Years of Mariachi" came Wiley and the Wild West! I don't mind telling you that they cranked it up just a bit. The young salesman saying at first "Whewwww, his is country!" It only took a moment and when they finished with "Yodel Boogie" that same young salesman said "Jeez, this thing ROCKS!" I saw 3 copies go out the door after mine (*no tips required...grin). I'm especially pleased with the "Girl from North Country." I heard Dylan do it way back when--not nearly as moving as your rendition. HE better be proud of you!
Also enjoyed your article in Western Horseman! One of these days hubby and I will make it to Dusty Wash.. If you're home (or at the Dusty Cafe) we can have a cup of coffee and talk about the world...WHICH IS A MUCH BETTER PLACE WITH YOUR MUSIC! Good goin' gang!!!!!!

Dear Wylie, Just thought I would let you know that we received the new CD, actually two of them, today. And after listening to it and reading the information contained on the brochure, giving all the info on the songs etc., I just had to sit down and respond. The songs and music are really great. Gay and I enjoyed it so very much. And when she read some of the things that Waddie Mitchell said, she got real emotional. And of course, I had to read the remarks also. Made me stop and realize how much of a contribution you have made in the lives of very many people. Not only children, but a lot of adults also.
We still find it amazing that you and the Wild West have not received the proper recognition that you deserve. Gay and I really do appreciate all you do in keeping the "good" cowboy music around. Your new CD is a great example. I hope that you run out of copies. I mean, that you sell them all and more. We do appreciate your kindness to us when we have attended the concerts. We especially enjoyed you and your music at the Sonoma Vintners' Picnic. Please keep up the good work. And we are especially looking forward to the next concert, somewhere within our circle of travel, that we can attend. Please convey our appreciation to the others in the group. We do appreciate all your efforts. I really didn't expect the CDs so soon. But am so glad they came. And now I can listen to all 7 more often.
Thanks again, Gene and Gay Beardsley, Willits, Calif. |

Dear Wylie, Keep up the great work. We are enjoying you and your music so much. We think you have more talent than anyone performing today! You are in the class of Hank Snow, Ernest Tubb, Roy Acuff, Edie Arnold and Bob Wells &the Texas Playboys. So you can tell why we really love your music. Your yodeling is the best ever! Thanks for being so talented and willing to share your talent and working so hard. We will be always looking for your performances and buying more albums that you make. My parents don't have a computer, so I am sending this on their behalf and me too. My parents are Chuck and Bonnie Awbrey in Moxee Washington. They LOVE you! |

Thank you so much for sending me a new CD, and what a pleasant surprise to see that you personally reply to the email I sent yesterday. I enjoy listening to your music and each new CD takes it to the next step. If you have a moment, I would like to tell you a quick story of how your music made Christmas 1998 a memorable one.
First of all, I was raised outside of Memphis, Tenn., not a lot of Western music played around here but I have always enjoyed country music. I'm 33 and grew up listening to my parents music like The Statler Brothers, Hank Williams, Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. While in college, I started slowly listening to Western music thanks to he likes of Asleep at the Wheel and various other artist. No one really turned me on to it just started enjoying it on my own. Well to bring you to the purpose of this story; back in 1998, I bought my first house located outside of Memphis. My mother thought it would be nice to have my family over for Christmas and so my parents and my sister's family call me over to spend the night. While we were preparing for the next day, Mom and my sister in the kitchen cooking, Dad and wrapping presents, etc., I popped in your "Total Yodel" CD. My parents were floored that I listened to that type of music. My mom loved Western music but due to today's radio airplay, just old memories. She spent the rest of the evening singing away at those songs and then come to find out that she yodels.
The next day when the relatives came over, she had me play the CD for her sisters and they set around talking about the old Western singers about the cowboy movies back when they were growing up. Since then, we still have Christmas at my house and it is not the Christmas songs we listening too but your Cowboys Songs. I hope this wasn't too long, just wanted to thank you for the good music you put out and the Chrismas memories that were made that first Christmas at my house.
Once again, Thank you for your time and great songs, Carl Helton |

Dear Mr. Gustafson, My parents were at the Washington Cattlemen's Convention in Chelan and since they got home they've been braggin' about how good your band is and how good of a yodeler you were. Well after listening to the 3 CDs they bought, I must say your band is awesome and your and outstanding yodeler! I was wondering if you could give me a few tips on yodeling and singing in general if you have the time. I enjoy the old country music and yodeling and if I was half as good as you I'd be awesome. so I figured if I wanted to be as good as you who else to ask but you. I like your music because you are from the country and grew up on a farm just like I am right now. I believe this makes your music more meaningful because you know what your talking about. I also would appreciate it if you would send me your autograph, if possible. Well thanks for your time.
Your fan, Mark Sieverkropp PS: Keep making CDs! |

Wylie, "Total Yodel!" is the yodel-odelest. It remains forever in my heart, wedged between Dolly and Liz Phair. I am a singer/song writer girl in the band Volume All*Star originally from Seattle but recently relocated to L.A. My beau and I run the Slabco record label, featuring mostly hip-pop music with a slight country bent. Anyway, I've been meaning to write you to let you know that you are an inspiration to this singer and please PLAY L.A. SOON!

Hi Wylie: We certainly enjoyed your musical show last evening and everyone we spoke to expressed the same sentiments. We think it was great. We appreciate your playing "T for Texas" for us. We have played the new CD that you presented to us last evening and we think it will be a great one for you. We enjoyed every song on it. We especially enjoyed the one about the Dusty Cafe, since we have been there.
We look forward to seeing you and your group somewhere in the future, hopefully again in Ottawa, Kansas. We will be watching your schedule as to when you will be in our general vicinity.
Best wishes to you and Kim in everything you undertake!
Your loyal fans in Ottawa, Kansas! Don & Frances Jones |

Saw the show in Yakima last night and I'm here to tell you "GREAT SHOW". Real cowboys do know how to sing.
So inspiring, I'm going to try yodeling, watching /listening to Wylie just makes you want to yodel those great cowboy songs. The band was a perfect mix.

Wylie, Great show at the Tractor (our 3rd one). Big crowd, I'm afraid you're getting too popular for the Tractor and now with the Kingdome slated to be blown up, I don't know where you'll be able to play in Seattle. The new CD is great, my new favorite. Did you ever think of learning Big City, it's got a great swing beat and mentions Montana. It was cool to see Don Edwards' comments on the liner notes on the new CD. How was it working with the "Idol of American Youth"? Keep up the good work and we'll look you up at Santa Clarita. |

Just wanted to say I love the new album. I didn't think Wylie's yodeling could get any smoother, but he sounds even better than he ever has before. "Yodeling My Blues Away" is my new favorite song.

Wylie, My husband and I both saw and heard you for the first time last night at The Met in Spokane, WA. It was a hoot! We had a terrific time and came home with two CDs that we've been enjoying today. Couldn't wait to check out your web site to be sure I could order the two CDs we hadn't yet picked up. Thank you for a most enjoyable evening, we're looking forward to coming out to see you and the band again next time you're in our neck of the woods.

Hi, My wife and I saw you for the first time at last year's Fan Fair: refreshing, captivating, just great entertainment. We loved the show and are looking forward to seeing you perform there again this year.

Caught your show at the Tractor 11/11. Man! You guys are outstanding! I've even turned my father on to your stuff. He never thought he'd see the day his son liked "real" country music. Can't wait to take him to one of your shows. Hurry back and thank you.

Hi Wylie, This is Judy Kaplan, Kevin Tomlinson's wife and business partner. First of all I wanted to tell you that Kevin learned about you from Charlie Tomaras. Kevin and Charlie work together often doing network news magazine shows. Kev is talking you up with various producers -- we all feel your story would be make a terrific piece. I've never really been a fan of country/Western, although I admit to listening to Patsy Cline when the mood strikes. Kevin gave me Asleep At the Wheel to listen to and I like them alot.
My friend Joan and I attended your show Saturday night at the Tractor Tavern with Kevin. We LOVED it. Now with your wonderful voice, keen lyrics and folksy manner I find myself slipping into fanhood. Throughout the evening I found myself dancing, laughing, and purposely smiling at Duane trying to get him to smile back -- maybe it was my imagination, but I think I succeeded a couple of times. Thank you all for a delightful evening.
Warm regards, Judy |

Hey, I just saw you guys at Bumpershoot today, and you were the highlight of my day. I am a fifth generation Montanan who is calling the Seattle area home for now. I am in my thirties and not a modern country music fan. I work as an attorney for the Army now and travel all over the world, but today really took me home to growing up on the ranch. Thanks so much! I plan on buying all your CDs.
Thanks again for a wonderful afternoon, Matt Cooper Captian, U.S. Army |

It's probably too long Wylie, but here goes. My dad was a suburban legend. He died three weeks ago of cancer. I finally saw your group at Bumbershoot after knowing about you from the yodeling commercials and putting it together with the wonderful review in the Times here in Seattle. This has everything to do with my dad because he too sang and played the guitar around the house and being a suburban girl I hated it! But then as time went on I loved it, and him. We would go see everybody from Doug Kershaw to Ranch Romance. His obituary thanks Waylon, Willie, and Johnny. All four of us kids remember soooo many more. Mom and Dad's song was Frank Ifields, "I Remember You." I now own the album, scratches and all.
When you sang that, I sang along and cried too. If you ever need girl harmony please write! Or call. I bought "Way Out West" and played "I Remember You" for Mom. She burst into tears but felt so good hearing it again. The review makes it sound like you intend to play on any level forever. Please do for at least two generations of wannabees! See you at the Tractor Tavern in November. Say hi to your wife.

I was recently turned on to your music and already consider myself a big fan. My Daddy's a big fan also and we were curious to see if you will be makin your way to Texas in 2001 as we'd like to see your live show. I really enjoyed "Ridin the Hi-line" and felt a strong tug to get myself back out to the country. Your music is inspiring and I want to encourage you to continue to do what you are doing and I look forward to your future releases.

Hello, My name is Sarah Scott and I work at AAA in Cincinnati. Recently, our department went on a business trip to Nashville, Tenn., and were able to catch a show at the Grand Ole Opry where we saw you perform November 18. I just have to say that you are a very talented person with an absolutely beautiful voice. I was never a HUGE country fan; I mean I liked it and all, but it wasn't my favorite type of music. However, being at a Grand Ole Opry show can change that outlook. I totally enjoyed the show as well as your performance.
Sincerely, Sarah Scott

Where on earth can I get your CDs? I bought one years ago at a Circuit City after seeing you on television one night. I have never found another album since. You are one of the scant few acts I've seen in the last ten years that is unique and captivating. I knew your entire album in one day and had never heard of you before that! It is years later and I still listen to your music like it was the first time. You blow the rest out of the water! How do I find any other music that you've put out? I tried your web page but can't get into it? Help! I think your brand of music is simple, singable, classic country but not really and is the best "Travlin' down the road with the windows open" music I've ever heard.
